The RM61-312 builds upon the design foundation of the RM600 and adds greater storage support. The main difference that sets the RM61-312 apart from the RM600 is the inclusion of 12 drive trays at the front of the chassis, occupying the bottom 2U height. These trays support 2.5" SSDs or 3.5" HDDs, with each storage drives capable of operating in 12G-SAS or 6G-SATA format. This functionality is achieved through an internal backplane connected to the back of the drive tray module, which includes 12Gb/s Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors along with SGPIO compatibility. Additionally, these drive trays are hot-swappable, providing flexibility for future upgrades or changes in storage requirements in the event of a drive malfunction. Lastly, each drive tray is included with a dedicated LED indicator that displays the operational status of individual drives. With the addition of 12 hot-swappable trays and all the features present in the RM600, the RM61-312 combines a conventional rackmount layout with modern features to enhance storage flexibility and ensure ease of maintenance and adaptability to evolving storage needs.
